It is difficult to meet people from our region on campus - we come from small countries and are not very well represented at NU. Balkan Student Association is a community where everyone is welcome, where we can connect far away from home. The common language for us in/from the Balkans is English. Although similar, we are also different - but coming from the same part of Europe, sharing several aspects of our cultures (such as food or dance) and histories, and facing common political situations and problems is what helps us connect and understand each other more easily. Our purpose is to promote the cultures and languages of the Balkan countries by creating a space where students who originate from the Balkan Peninsula and students who are interested in our region can connect easily and build a community.

CoPilot aims to create a space for screenwriters of any experience level to join forces to produce something magical: concept material for an original series each quarter. Ownership of all material is collective; we're students working for the purpose of experience. It encourages collaboration to the maximum. Every big decision we make is conceived and voted upon by each writing team. From genre to pitches to arcs to subplots to outlining the pilot episode, each step involves everyone. Members of CoPilot commit themselves to accepting each other at any skill level, boosting each other up to greater literary heights, and telling stories that they feel are pertinent and imperative to tell. CoPilot prepares students for what it might be like to develop a TV show. Whether reaching for the next act break or for a career in screenwriting, we will always push each other to inspire and be inspired.

Alumni consistently call Griffin's Tale the highlight of their undergraduate experiences, and any Northwestern student will tell you our shows are unmatched in energy, laughter, and community.

Griffin's Tale aims to encourage children in their creative abilities by showing them the importance of their imaginative work. Each year, we receive thousands of original stories written by elementary schoolers across the Chicagoland area. We then take those stories and adapt them into songs, skits, dances, raps, etc. In the spring, we perform those stories back to the elementary school students who wrote them. We display the value of children's ideas and words to all audiences, and we continuously include new schools in our performance tour cycle so that we can work with as many children and teachers as possible. We encourage and develop children's literacy as they grow into courageous and creative people.

Joining Griffin's Tale means entering into a family of joyful chaos and lifelong friends. Enjoy the process of rehearsing, performing, and working together to form a cohesive group while challenging and improving our own performing abilities as we take children's stories off the page and onto the stage.
